For the actual JC, there are no Irish orals, so I wouldn't study for them then. For the LC, there are. It's examined the same for ordinary and higher.

I had an irish jc oral. It was very easy, and handy to get marks in! They ask you your name and your examination number, ask you some general questions and then they do sraithphictiuiri where you look at the pictures and say whats going on. You will have like 6 sraithphictiuiri way before the exams so you can be prepared :)

You're correct. The oral for JC is optional however. The DES brought in a new curriculum a few years ago.

my JC was 2 years ago. If your school does orals for JC then it is not optional.

it is optional i think :) it consits of a failtiú (welcome) sraith pictúir, rolglacadh and general questions :) you get 5 pictures and 8 rolglacadh to study before the oral :)

Not too much study is required, but wouldn't hurt to learn the sraith phictiúrí, rólghlacadh and make sure you know how to reply to the interview and failtiú questions
