I need help on chemical bonding! When would you use covalent bonding and when would you use ionic bonding? Thanks:)

Ionic is when they want to gain or lose an electron/s to get a full outer shell. The atom that gains an electron becomes negatively charged. Covalent is when the both need to gain electrons. They then share to get a full outer shell.
