Advice for JC history students

I'm quite a talented history student, i absolutely adore the subject. Just wanted to let people know what i think are the most likely options for people in history A and B after going through them year by year, as i know we're all under pressure to study. Person in history A: person living in a named plantation, someone living in ancient ireland, renaissance artist outside Italy (I recommend Albrecht Durer) and an early christian Monk. no harm to know the medievak monk either. Person in history B: Sailor during the age of explorations, A cold war crisis, again, person living on a named plantation as it comes up in A or B, A revolutionary leader such as Wolfe Tone and no harm to look over the agricultural or industrial revolution. Best of luck to all on Wednesday.

Honeslty I'm just learning all the 2nd year PIH essays. Last year only 1 came up so I reckon two will come up and it'll be just one third year one.

can u explain in detail what the difference between the medieval Monk and early christian monk are?
brefni_burke
ancient rome and middle ages are due to come up too
MrKnowitall
the medieval monk has the tonsure haircut and a certain timetable to follow, which you must write about for the medieval monk. the buildings in a medieval monastary are also different, for example there was the infirmary for the sick, the almonry where the almoner monk fed the poor, the cloistures which was an enclosed walkway in a courtyard for prayer. manuscripts were no longer really written, but copied. friars came about, who were monks also belonged to a certain order, for example, Benedictines followed st benedict. friars often went to towns and tracelled alot to help the poor. Those are the main differences. Basically, learn the early christian monk, but if its a medieval monk, learn the newer monastary buildings and roles, the tonsure, the time table, and you should be good.

thank u so much
MrKnowitall
yes jack, use the celts. you could use the neolithic people but there is far more to go on the celts for marks. If you learn the ones i said, you should have a large enough choice that i will be extremely surprised if they don't come up,

revolutionary leader will come up as there is a pattern that the past yrs section 5 will come up as a section 4 PIHQ the yr after and this pattern has always has always worked and also i think the irish war of independence will come up as this yr is 2019 which is the 100yr anniversary of the 1919 war of independence and also i beleive the exploration

mrknowitall - If i know all the people in historys which you listed above will i be ok ?
Hannah123c
some of these are right but i looked at all the questions from each year and a knight has only come up once, so quite likely. Also make sure to know christopher columbus, leonardo da vinci, a monk (medieval and early christian) and a rev. leader

they're easy enough my advice is go for the first (usually Romans) and last one (usually world powers eg cold war, Cuban missile crisis etc) of the long questions, that's what I'll be doing.
Ashleybyrne16
What years will the revolutionary Irish leader be from
Ashleybyrne16
Also I think the famine will come up in q5 and 6 a will be age of exploration or ancient civilizations
Geekprincess

farm to factory might be question 6
MrKnowitall
my predictions are based off of eliminating last years possibilities and looking at general patterns. my predicitons are highly likely for not guaranteed. sorry for responding late but for Q6 everyone for ireland i would have to reccomend learning the home rule crisis, its the 100th anniversary of the war of indo. so very likely, cumann na ngaedhal and fianna fáil, and the rising and thats it i reckon. For ww2 i reccomend hitlers foreign policy, the nazis and the jews, nazi propaganda, and thats it as battles came up last year but you should know them. you will most likely have to write 2 ww2 accounts for q6 as the cold war came up twice already so it might not come up again apart from a people in history. I can't send notes on to anyone sorry, i wish you the best of luck tomorrow and let me know how you got on.
MrKnowitall
Geekprincess, its very hard to do that as its easy marks in q6 and the first two parts, a and b of questoin 6 can be very random and hard to learn, so i would recommend ireland.
MrKnowitall
Micul, well those are the ones i learned and my teacher said i'd be fine, but tbh im the type of student that can easily remember things about other topics and get the majority of the marks, i only study in the hopes of getting full marks so if you're iffy learn more while you have time
MrKnowitall
Sean i would say you should learn maybe the ancient pre christian person in ireland while you have time as the medieval lady is not coming yp and you will need perhaps an extra learned person for person in history part A, as alot of what you have studied comes up for person in history part B.
Sadbh Lalor
definietly either explorations or plantations for the picture source question 5 as there is a pattern (100 %)
skyechan1110
Mrknowitall - i find the irish history impossible to learn so would you say id be okay with just like the general knowledge of it because i basically know all of the worl war II topics
MrKnowitall
Well lads, those of you who actually went over what i recommended must have been delighted when you saw todays people in history. I myslef went with pre christian ireland farmer and michael collins as a leader in the struggle for irsih independence. Overall, how'd ye find it
real_andypandy
easy went over to predict monk, collins and cuban missile crisis yesterday so was lucky
