How to pass HL Biology/ Should I drop to OL ?

I've thought about dropping down to OL Biology for a while but I think I really want to try and stay at HL for Leaving Cert because I'm already doing 3 OL subjects and I don't think I need to keep losing points. Plus a H5 is the same as an O1 but I'm really finding HL biology hard. Any advice on how to breakdown the chapters so there not as hard ? Also, Should I drop to OL or keeping trying to stay in HL

just keep doing exam papers, they show show you what you need to know so you can focus on that rather than the extra information fhe books and teachers pile on

Maybe your teachers notes are bad. You could buy some notes online from sites like 625.ie. I have their chemistry notes and they are really good. Try stay at HL. Maybe you could ask a freind at lunch to help you. Thats what I do when I dont fully understand. One major thing I do is watch youtube videos on the topic. Its so helpful. Just look up the topic on youtube and there will probably be some great videos to help you. Good luck!

OL is not incredibly easier or anything. Just requires you to know a little bit less in depth. Just keep trying exam q's. Then decide later on. Remeber you can always drop down on the day of the exams aswell and for biology it is not a problem to do that.

Thank you so much for all the advice. I think I'm going to stay in HL because I feel like I can defenitly work at it and improve. Thank you :)

Stay at HL , it is a manageable subject to do well in, all depends on what career/course you would like to proceed into , break down the bigger chapters like Enzymes and Respiration and learn them well , smaller chapters like scientific method and cell diffusion require less study. Study smart not long . Find your weaknesses and study them , do exam papers and mock papers and you'll be perfectly fine @zoedoyle_24

exam papers, shortening notes as biology can me summerised a lot. Know definations + mandatory experiments [you can get a general idea of what definations asked on each topic from exam papers.].

I wouln't drop to OL, you get way less points, and if you keep doing exam questions you'll improve your exam technique and it will be much easier as the questions repeat themselves year after year. also the OL isnt THAT much easier, so with a little extra effort, doing HL is really worthwhile. you can do it!!!

stick to HL it will pay off it the end. invest in a Revise Wise, it cuts to the point and its really helpfull it brought my grade from a H4 up to a H2!! practice Exam Qs because they often repeat them and even if you dont know the answer flick through the chapter to try and find it becuase you're still learning :))
