Can I refer to "shells" at leaving cert chemistry?

For example, in trends in the PTE is it incorrect to say that the electrons in the outer shell are pulled closer to the increasingly positive nucleus across a period while the number of inner shells remains the same across the period? Or is that terminology too "Junior Cert". Should I just use energy levels instead of shells to be safe?

no its better to say energy levels, as far as I know, you cannot say shells. better to play it safe anyway

ok thanks, I got some notes that use the word shells, probably best to stick to the old textbook.
