Dropping to OL in 6th Year
JC13 Leaving Cert Irish7

I'm really considering dropping to ordinary level irish in september but i don't know. I hate irish, but i'm not bad at it. I was getting H2s and H3s and sometimes the odd H1 in tests in 5th year, but i want to drop to take off the work load as i'm also doing Biology, Chemistry, Physics and French. Is dropping a wise move???

if you are looking for 600 plus you really need a back up especially if you plan on counting english,I would keep it up and begin to focus on the oral listening and reading comprehensions which make up 66 percent of the exam and can be brought to a h1 standard with practice leaving you ina good position for a h1 or high h2 overall which i am sure as a back up is fantastic.

@Ismali2003 Thank you!

Yeah dropping it makes no sense, sounds like you could easily get a H4 or H5 with no work at all, and since you're still going to class, you might as well use that time to focus on Irish and fine tune it to maybe get a H3 or H2.

people drop to OL when they are getting h4 or h5s after a year of hard work. if you are getting h2s - h3s keep it up. its seems to be easy for you. stay in higher level. if you want to drop the workload... just drop the work load, stay in HL but dont try your very hardest if you dont need to.
