What's involved?
The exam is worth 80% of your grade. Typically, you will find 2 sections to the written paper. In the first section, you will find 10 short questions but it is not mandatory to do them all. However, it is recommended as they can be quickly done and will maximise the amount of marks you can earn. In the second section, you will have a choice of 6 long questions and you only need to complete 3.
You will need to complete a Research Study which is a project done in the first term of 6th year. It is worth 20% of your economics grade. You’ll receive a brief (list of topics) in 6th year from which you choose one and conduct research and analysis on it.
After you conduct the Research Study, you will write up your report on it. This is what you are actually assessed on. The SEC recommends that you keep a portfolio or folder during your research process to help you complete this.
