The Exam
There are two parts to the LC Technology Exam
- Coursework (50%)
- Written exam (50%)
Written Exam
Both levels are have one examination paper. The Ordinary paper is 2 hours whereas the Higher level paper is 2 and a half hours. The paper will contain sections A and B. Section A will assess the Core topics. Section B will assess the five Options.
Coursework
Students must design and produce an artefact and a folder to accompany it. A brief for this coursework is issued to schools each year by the SEC
Notes:
Students do not need to have taken Technology at Junior Cert to qualify for this course.
It would however be an advantage if students had taken one of Tech Drawing, Wood Technology or Technology.
